Daniel Pauluzzi

Daniel Pauluzzi (born July 2, 1866 in Unterach am Attersee , Upper Austria , † February 18, 1956 in Munich ) was an Austrian painter and sculptor . He was one of the most important representatives of the Graz Art School , where he worked and taught for a long time.

Career

Pauluzzi originally studied lithography at the Nuremberg School of Applied Arts and the Munich Art Academy . He improved his expressiveness and painting skills during several study trips within Europe. At first he worked as a freelance artist in Graz. He later became a teacher at the Graz School of Applied Arts, the Styrian State Art School and honorary lecturer at the Technical University. As a representative of visual artists, he pursued class politics for years . In total he was active for 75 years and so his life's work includes many works over a wide area. He is particularly well-known for having succeeded in depicting the “Graz local color” of the 19th and 20th centuries in its naturalness and humanity.

He is buried in the St. Leonhard Cemetery in Graz . Pauluzzigasse in the St. Leonhard district of Graz is named after him, as his studio was located here.
