Rafael Fabris de Matos (born January 6, 1996 in Porto Alegre ) is a Brazilian tennis player .
Career
Matos was a successful player on the Junior Tour. He played a number of Grand Slam tournaments from 2013 to 2014 and made it to the US Open double finals with his partner João Menezes in 2014 . There they were defeated in two sentences to Omar Jasika and Naoki Nakagawa in two sentences. In the junior ranking, he achieved his best ranking with 37th place.
From 2014 he played regularly in professional tournaments. Here he is particularly successful in doubles - in 2013 and 2014 he won a title in doubles on the ITF Future Tour . In 2015 he was already in the top 500 of the world rankings in doubles with three future titles at the end of the year , while he had not yet won a single title. Also in 2016, 2017 and 2018 (five double titles each) he remained constant in doubles and was even able to play his way into the top 300 in the world at the end of 2018. Furthermore, he rarely took part in tournaments on the ATP Challenger Tour , where he could never win more than one match. In singles, the Brazilian won his first two titles in 2017. One each followed in 2018 and 2019; He made it into the top 500 for the first time in mid-2018.
In February 2019, Rafael Matos got a wildcard for the double field at the ATP Tour event in São Paulo together with Igor Marcondes . They lost to Maximilian Marterer and Andreas Mies in the match tie- breaker in the opening round . In October he won his first challenger title in doubles at the side of his compatriot Orlando Luz in São Paulo .
