João Magalhaes Hueb de Menezes (born December 17, 1996 in Uberaba ) is a Brazilian tennis player .

Career

Menezes was already a successful player on the Junior Tour. He played in three of the four Grand Slam tournaments in 2014. At the French Open he made it to the semi-finals with Orlando Luz , at the US Open he even made it to the final alongside Rafael Matos , which they lost to Omar Jasika and Naoki Nakagawa . In the junior ranking list, he achieved his best ranking with 21st place.

He played his first professional tournament in 2011 on the third-rate ITF Future Tour . Two years later he made his debut in doubles on the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour . With his first title on the Future Tour, Menezes improved his world rankings and he increasingly started qualifying for Challenger tournaments. If he made it into the main field, he was mostly eliminated on the first lap.

After he only played future tournaments in 2017 and made his way up to the top 300 in the world rankings, he returned to Challengers in the following year. While he never made it past the quarterfinals in doubles, he was more successful in singles. In 2019, he won the final in Samarqand against the top seeded Frenchman Corentin Moutet in two sets and celebrated his first title win at Challenger level. After a quarter-finals in Columbus a little later, he reached a new career high with 266th place.

In 2019 he made his debut for the Brazilian Davis Cup team .
