Felipe Meligeni Rodrigues Alves (born February 19, 1998 in Campinas ) is a Brazilian tennis player .

Personal

His sister Carolina Meligeni Alves is also a tennis player. Their mutual uncle Fernando Meligeni was a successful tennis player in the 1990s who reached the semi-finals of the French Open in 1999 .

Career

The Brazilian played on the ITF Junior Tour from 2015 and was 103rd in the junior ranking in his first year there. In 2016, he was 31st in his best position. As the fourth Brazilian, his greatest success was winning a junior grand slam tournament , the Australian Open 2016 in double competition . At the side of the Bolivian Juan Carlos Aguilar , he beat the Canadian pairing of Benjamin Sigouin and Félix Auger-Aliassime in two sets.

From 2016 he competed in professional tournaments. In 2017 he won his first two titles in doubles on the third-rate ITF Future Tour . In 2018 there was one title in singles and three in doubles, and in doubles he entered the top 500 in the world rankings at the end of the year . After three titles in singles and two other finals, he moved into the top 400 in singles in 2019 and was able to take part in tournaments on the ATP Challenger Tour more often . In doubles he won eleven futures and was also able to establish himself at Challengers. In Segovia and Lima , he was twice in the finals, each without a title and came to five more semi-finals. He finished the year on rank 391 in singles and 178 in doubles.

His best results to date followed in 2020. In singles, he managed to reach a Challenger semifinals for the first time in Punta del Este . In February, thanks to a wildcard , he was able to take part in both competitions of the Rio Open , his first tournament on the ATP Tour . Here he was able to win a set against the world number four Dominic Thiem . In doubles, he made it to the semi-finals with Thiago Monteiro , making him 132nd in the world rankings. The following week he made his debut for the Brazilian Davis Cup team when he won his doubles match against Australia.
