Marc-Andrea Hüsler (born June 24, 1996 in Zurich ) is a Swiss tennis player .

Career

Marc-Andrea Hüsler played for the first time with the pros after a few matches on the ITF Junior Tour 2014. Until 2017 he was able to reach two finals in doubles on the lower class ITF Future Tour , while he never made it past the quarterfinals in singles.

In 2017 he came to Switzerland at the ATP World Tour tournaments in Gstaad and Basel through wildcards in qualifications, which he was not able to make positive. In doubles he was even in the main field with a wildcard and was able to win with Nenad Zimonjić at the start before the pairing narrowly failed in the quarterfinals. By the end of the year he was able to reach two future finals in individual, of which he won one. In addition, he won two doubles titles in five finals and celebrated his premiere on the second-rate ATP Challenger Tour in Ismaning . In the world rankings he was able to set up new top positions with 723 in singles and 367 in doubles. In 2017, Hüsler also played in the Swiss tennis league NLA-Interclub for TC Seeblick , with which he won the championship in 2017 in the second attempt.

In 2018 he celebrated his first tournament victory on the Challenger Tour in Winnipeg . In doubles, he defeated the brothers Marcel and Gerard Granollers with Sem Verbeek in the final . A few days later he announced his greatest success of his individual career to date with a victory over the former top 10 player Nicolás Almagro at the ATP tournament in Gstaad . In the same year he made his debut for the Swiss Davis Cup team against Kazakhstan . At the Swiss Indoors Basel he reached the quarter-finals for the first time in a doubles tournament in the ATP World Tour 500 category . Together with their play partner Sem Verbeek, they defeated the number 1 seeded pairing Raven Klaasen / Michael Venus .

In 2019, Hüsler recorded his first individual tournament victory at Challenger level. In San Luis Potosí he won the final against the number 2 seeded Spaniard Adrián Menéndez 7: 5, 7: 6 (7: 3), who was over 200 positions ahead of him . Hüsler made a jump from 351 to 281 in the world rankings.
