Jakub Paul (born March 22, 1999 in Chur ) is a Swiss tennis player .

Career

Jakub Paul already played tennis quite successfully on the ITF Junior Tour. In 2017 he qualified for his only junior Grand Slam tournament , the US Open . There he won two matches in singles and doubles, but then lost in singles to Wu Yibing , the eventual winner of the tournament. His best ranking in the junior ranking was a combined 67th place.

Since 2017 he has also been playing tennis at the professional level. Here he mostly plays on the third-rate ITF Future Tour , where he reached his first individual final in Oberentfelden in February 2018 . In addition, at the end of 2017 he succeeded in his first participation in a Challenger in Ho Chi Minh City , where he fought his way through the qualification. He played his first match on the ATP World Tour in doubles in Gstaad , where he and his doubles partner Adrian Bodmer received a wildcard from the tournament officials. They won against their compatriots Marc-Andrea Hüsler and Luca Margaroli at the start and finally lost in the quarter-finals. He achieved his best placement in the world rankings at the beginning of August 2018 with rank 715 in singles and 487 in doubles.
