Lithuanian Embassy Tallinn

The Lithuanian Embassy Tallinn is Lithuania's diplomatic mission in Estonia .

Seat

The headquarters of the embassy is located in the Estonian capital Tallinn (German Reval) in Neue Straße (Estonian Uus tänav ) at Neue Straße 15.

Architecture and history

The listed embassy building, built in the Baroque style , probably dates back to the second half of the 17th century. Inside the building there is an inscription of the year 1744. It is assumed that the building was converted into a residential building at that time. The year 1751 can be read on the portal. The coats of arms of former owners are on the house.

In 1876 a school was established in the house. The building was damaged during the Soviet air raid on Reval on March 9, 1944. In 1949 the house was prepared for school operation again. From 1988 to 1990 the Polish State Workshops for Monument Preservation (PKZ) restored the building according to plans by the Estonian architect I. Kannelmäe.

After restoring the independence of the Baltic states, the house then served as the Lithuanian embassy in Estonia from 1995.

The building was registered as a monument on April 15, 1997 and is listed under number 3090 in the Estonian Register of Monuments .
