life and career

Sandro Ehrat, the son of Jürg and Nicole Ehrat, grew up with his brother Fabian in Schaffhausen . In the junior classes U12, U14, U16 and U18 he has achieved some successes at international tournaments and won a bronze medal at the European Summer Olympic Youth Festival in Belgrade. His highest ranking in the junior world rankings was 32nd place.

He dared to switch to the pros in 2010. A year later he won the first title on the ITF Future Tour in singles and doubles . In the tennis world rankings he reached the 350th place at the end of the year in 2012, in doubles he was in 634th place after he had reached seven future finals in singles this year and could only win one of them. In 2013 he won three more titles and was the highest in the world rankings to date with position 295. A few months earlier, he was highest in doubles with 554th place. For the ATP tournament in Gstaad in 2012 he received a wildcard for the main tableau from the tournament management and thus played his first game on the ATP World Tour on July 16 , which he won in two sets with 2: 6 and 4: 6 against the qualifiers Martin Fischer lost. In doubles, he came through wildcards to four tournaments without a win. In the following years up to the beginning of 2016 he achieved less good results, which is why he lost places in the world rankings.

After a long break, Sandro Ehrat started his comeback at the end of 2018. In the previous year he had won the Swiss championships. This year he managed to reach two future titles and another final. By April 2019 he made it to the finals of a future five times and won three titles. By successfully playing tournaments, he quickly rose to the top of the ITF rankings. He is currently in 17th place. As a result, he comes into the main field more often on the ATP Challenger Tour and made it into the round of 16 in Tallahassee . He is currently in 472nd place.

In 2018 he made his debut for the Swiss Davis Cup team . He lost the decisive last individual in the game against Sweden .
