André Göransson (born April 30, 1994 in Höllviken ) is a Swedish tennis player .

Career

Göransson played college tennis for the University of California, Berkeley from 2013 to 2017 . Before and during his college days he also took part in tournaments on the ITF Future Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour . In 2015 he received a wildcard in the doubles competition for the Challenger tournament in Tiburon and won his opening game with Florian Lakat against Dustin Brown and Denis Kudla . As a result, he was still in two Future Finals and was eliminated from the Challenger in Båstad in the first round.

He achieved his first triumph on the Challenger Tour in September 2017. Starting again with a wildcard, he won the tournament in Tiburon with Lakat . On the way to the final they defeated two seeded pairings and in the final beat the top seeded duo Marcelo Arévalo and Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela in two sets. With this success, Göransson, who previously always ranked outside the top 1000 in the world rankings , made a jump of over 500 places. With two more titles on the Future Tour, he continued to improve and achieved his best placement in doubles with 300th place in June 2018.

In 2019 he made his debut for the Swedish Davis Cup team .
