Florian Lakat (born August 3, 1995 in Paris ) is a French tennis player .

Career

Lakat played tennis for the University of California, Berkeley College . There he won the ITA Men's All-American Championships with Filip Bergevi in doubles in 2016 .

Before and during his college days, he took part in tournaments on the ITF Future Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour . So far he has won six doubles titles on the Future Tour. While he was only in one future final in singles and has not yet won a game at Challenger Level, he celebrated his first successes in doubles at the beginning of his career. In 2014 he won his first Future title with Maxime Janvier . On his debut on the Challenger Tour in Tiburon , he moved into the quarter-finals alongside André Göransson , with whom he also played in his college team. Two years later he received another wildcard for double field with Göransson in Tiburon . This time they made it through to the final and beat the top seeded pairing Marcelo Arévalo and Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela in two sets. After starting the year without being in the world rankings , he finished it in 434th place.

With four other titles on the Future Tour, he achieved his best placement to date in April 2018 with 252nd place. In May he finally celebrated his Grand Slam debut . With Arthur Rinderknech he received a wild card for the double field at the French Open . There they met Nikolos Bassilashvili and John Millman , whom they had to admit defeat in three sentences.
