Sem Verbeek (born April 12, 1994 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch tennis player .

Career

Verbeek studied sports medicine at the University of the Pacific from 2012 to 2016 . During this time he also played college tennis and reached the top 50 of the ITA rankings in singles.

Verbeek also played professional tournaments during his studies. For the first time in 2015 at the Challenger tournament in Fairfield thanks to a wildcard . In 2016 he reached the semi-finals in doubles in Stockton in his first challenger in doubles. From the end of his studies in mid-2016, Verbeek played regular tournaments and mainly competed in third-rate futures . Successes came in 2017 mainly in doubles. Here he won 10 titles in futures by the end of the year, while he rarely survived the first round in singles. He finished the year in singles on rank 885, in doubles on rank 269 in the world rankings .

In 2018, another seven double titles have been added so far. In addition, thanks to his ranking, he was also able to compete in some challengers and celebrate his first title at this level there in Winnipeg . In the final he defeated the brothers Marcel and Gerard Granollers with his doubles partner Marc-Andrea Hüsler . He achieved his best placement in doubles a little later with 200th place.
