Defending champion in the singles was Juan Carlos Ferrero , who was unable to compete this year due to injury. In doubles, Pablo Cuevas and Marcel Granollers were the defending champions, but they did not compete together this year. Nicolás Almagro won the individual competition, in the final he defeated the Ukrainian Oleksandr Dolhopolow ; this was his second title after 2008 in Costa do Sauípe. The Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares won the doubles , in the final they defeated the Spanish pairing Pablo Andújar and Daniel Gimeno Traver . For Melo this was the second and for Soares the first title in Costa do Sauípe.
The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the double competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round. The total prize pool was $ 470,200 and total financial liabilities were $ 527,700.
The qualification took place from February 5th to 7th, 2011. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
The following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who moved into the main draw via qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round.
