The Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel 2002 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 22nd to 27th, 2002 in Basel . It was part of the ATP Tour 2002 and was played on carpet indoors. The venue for the tournament was the St. Jakobshalle , which is located just behind the Basel city limits in Münchenstein .

The defending champion in the singles was Tim Henman , who started again this year, but was eliminated in the quarterfinals against David Nalbandian . This moved on to the final and won there against Fernando González in three sets with 6: 4, 6: 3 and 6: 2. For Nalbandian it was both his second title this year and his second overall title on the ATP World Tour . In doubles, Ellis Ferreira and Rick Leach were the defending champions. They both took part in the tournament again this year, but with different partners. While Ferreira did not get past the first round, Leach made it to the semi-finals. The final won the brothers Bob and Mike Bryan in straight sets against Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor . For the American brothers it was their fifth joint title this season as well as their ninth joint title overall on the ATP World Tour.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
