The Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel 2006 was a tennis tournament that took place from October 24th to 29th, 2006 in Basel . It was part of the ATP Tour 2006 and was played on carpet indoors. The venue for the tournament was the St. Jakobshalle , which is located just behind the Basel city limits in Münchenstein .

Defending champion in the singles was Fernando González , who made it to the final again this year. There he ultimately had to admit defeat to the top seeded Swiss Roger Federer . In the final, Federer won in three sets with 6: 3, 6: 2 and 7: 6 3 . For the world number 1, it was the eleventh title this year and his 44th title in his career. In doubles, Fernando González and Agustín Calleri no longer competed together to defend their title. This year's final won Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor in three sets with 4: 6, 6: 4 and [10: 8] against Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski . For Knowles and Nestor, it was the second title in Basel after 2003 and their 37th joint double title in their careers.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.
