Hicham Arazi ( Arabic هشام أرازي, DMG Hišām Arāzī ; Born October 19, 1973 in Casablanca ) is a retired Moroccan tennis player . He completed his last professional tennis match in 2007.

Life

When Arazi was two years old, his parents moved with him to France. He started playing tennis at the age of five, under the guidance of his father Mohamed, who is a tennis teacher by profession.

Arazi switched to professional life in 1993. In 1996 he took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta for Morocco , but lost there in the first round against the 1992 gold medalist Marc Rosset . He won the only single title of his career in 1997 in Casablanca. In the same year he reached the quarter-finals of the French Open . There he lost against the Spaniard Sergi Bruguera, who was in 16th place (6: 4, 3: 6, 2: 6 and 2: 6). On November 5, 2001, Arazi reached 22nd place, his highest ranking in the ATP world rankings. At the end of 2006, he only had 848th place. His total prize money won is $ 3,602,644.

Arazi lives in Monte Carlo ( Monaco ) and speaks five languages: Arabic, French, English, Italian and Spanish.
