Aleksandar Vukic (born April 6, 1996 in Sydney , New South Wales ) is an Australian tennis player .

Career

Vukic didn't play on the Junior Tour. He decided in 2014 to study at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the art business , where he also Tennis College played. In the first three years of study he had a score of 94:13 in the individual.

In addition to his studies, he already played tournaments on the third-class ITF Future Tour . There he was able to reach a final in Canada for the first time in 2015. He ended the year with 717th in the world rankings for the first time within the top 1000. At the beginning of 2016, he received a wildcard for qualifying for the ATP World Tour tournament in Sydney . There he surprised with his first win over a top 100 player when he defeated Serhiy Stachowskyj in three sets. In the qualifying round he finally lost to Maximilian Marterer . In the summer he was able to fight his way into a main field by qualifying several challengers , so that he kept his ranking at the end of the year. In 2017 he climbed into the top 500 with a final and his first title on the Future Tour.

As in 2016, the Australian got a wildcard for qualifying in Sydney in 2018 . This time he won both matches against Dušan Lajović and Ričardas Berankis and was in an ATP main field for the first time. There he was defeated by Feliciano López in three sets. Shortly afterwards he achieved his best position to date with rank 441.
