Markus Thomschke (born April 22, 1984 in Kamenz ) is a German triathlete who mainly starts on the long distance and is included in the best list of German triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

In his youth Markus Thomschke was active as a handball player.

In July 2007 he was runner-up in the European age group 18 at Ironman Germany in Frankfurt. In 2011 he was third in the German championship on the long distance duathlon in Falkenstein.

Triathlon professional since 2012

In 2012 he started as a professional at Ironman Hawaii for the first time and in 2016 he was able to qualify again.
In October 2017, the then 33-year-old finished third at Ironman Louisville and in June 2019 also third at Ironman Ireland .

Markus Thomschke is trained by Faris Al-Sultan and he lives in Friedersdorf , a district of Pulsnitz . He is married and has two children.
