The Ironman Maastricht-Limburg is a former triathlon sporting event over the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in Maastricht (Limburg Province) , which took place every year in July or August from 2015 to 2018. in the Netherlands .

organization

This event was organized by Ironman Germany GmbH .

In 2012 the UCI Road World Championships were held here in the region and the first Ironman competition took place here on August 2nd, 2015.

One and a half months after the race on August 5, 2018, the original winner, the Dutchwoman Els Visser, received the message from the organizer that she had subsequently been disqualified and taken out of the ranking.

After four events, no extension of the race was announced for 2019.

Route

The Ironman Maastricht-Limburg route led through the hilly landscape of the Limburg province and ended in the city center of Maastricht. The 3.86 km long swimming course led through the river Maas , followed by a profiled 180.2 km long bike course over two laps. The marathon led in three laps around Maastricht and the "Sports Zone" of Sittard-Geleen.
