The race in Vitoria-Gasteiz is next to the Ironman Lanzarote (May) and Ironman Barcelona (September / October) the third in Spain on the Ironman distance.

Amateurs have the opportunity here in Vitoria-Gasteiz to qualify for a starting place at the Ironman Hawaii , for which 40 qualification places are available. Professional triathletes competing for the US $ 40,000 prize money can qualify for the US $ 650,000 competition in Hawaii via the Kona Pro Ranking System (KPR).
