organization

This event is organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The first Ironman competition took place here on April 12, 2015 and around 1,600 athletes were expected at the start.

Kenting, Taiwan

The venue on the island of Taiwan is Kenting. There are 25 starting places for the Ironman World Championships at Ironman Hawaii . The date of the second edition in 2016 was moved from April to October.

In October 2018, the swim course had to be shortened to 400 m due to strong winds and the race was therefore held on a shortened course. The last race was here on September 29, 2019.

The event originally planned for April 12, 2020 was canceled at the beginning of March due to the spread of the coronavirus and the next event is called March 21, 2021.

Route

  • The swim course is in Small Bay and begins with a beach start. There are two laps to swim.
  • The 180 km bike course leads over three laps to southern Taiwan.
  • The running route also includes three laps and runs along the Hengchun Peninsula.
