Rom Akerson (born September 29, 1984 ) is a triathlete from Costa Rica . He is world champion Xterra Cross-Triathlon (2018).

Career

Rom Akerson is active in triathlon (swimming, cycling and running) and cross-triathlon (swimming, mountain biking and cross-country running).
In 2014 he became national champion on the short distance triathlon in Costa Rica. In 2015 he finished fourth in the World Cross Triathlon Championships in Italy. In 2017 he was sidelined after an injury and in 2018 he became national champion again.

World champion Xterra Cross-Triathlon 2018

In October 2018, the then 34-year-old became Xterra world champion in cross triathlon in Hawaii.

In June 2019, he won the Ironman 70.3 Costa Rica (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) on the triathlon middle distance .
