Nicky Samuels (born February 28, 1983 in Whangarei ) is a triathlete from New Zealand . She is aquathlon world champion (2012) and world champion cross triathlon (2013).

Career

Nicky Samuels studied at the University of Otago until 2004 . She started triathlon in 2003 and was runner-up in Canada in December in the 20-24 age group.

The multiple New Zealand champion achieved her first World Cup victory in Australia in March 2011.

She starts for the New Zealand national team Triathlon New Zealand elite squad and in France for the TCG 79 Parthenay club .

Aquathlon World Champion 2012

In January 2012, it was New Zealand cycling -Meisterin in the road race . In October she became aquathlon world champion.

In October 2013 she became the Maui Cross Triathlon World Champion ( Xterra racing series). In 2014 she took third place here.
At the Triathlon World Championship as part of the ITU World Championship Series 2014 , she was fifth.

After a restrained 2015 season due to an injury to her leg, she sought a nomination for a starting place at the Olympic Games.
She qualified for a place at the 2016 Summer Olympics and competed for New Zealand on August 20 - together with Tony Dodds , Ryan Sissons and Andrea Hewitt . It ranks 13th in Rio de Janeiro.

World champion cross triathlon 2013

In October 2013 Nicky Samuels became world champion cross triathlon.

Nicky Samuels has been married to Steve Gould since 2009 and they now live in Wanaka . In February 2017, Samuels announced that she was expecting a child and would be on hiatus from the 2017 season.
