The New Zealand Road Cycling Championships 2012 (officially: 2012 RaboDirect Elite Cycling Nationals ) took place from January 6th to 8th in Christchurch . The individual time trials and road races for women, men and the U-23 men's class were held, with the men's elite and U-23 classes starting in a joint road race. The time trials took place on January 6th, the women's road race was held a day later. The championships ended on January 8th with the men's road races. The respective champions were given the right to wear a jersey in the New Zealand national colors in races in their respective discipline until the next championships.

Time trial

The time trials were run on a flat track with start and finish at Lincoln University .

Women elite

The two first placed received three and two points respectively for the UCI world rankings .

Road racing

The road races were held on a 15.6-kilometer circuit with start and finish at Pioneer Stadium , which included the climb to Cashmere Hill (1.47 kilometers with an average of 7.5% gradient). However, the first lap of each race was driven without this hill and was therefore only 12.7 kilometers long.

Women elite

The four first placed received points (10,7,5,3) for the UCI world rankings .
