Australian Road Cycling Championships 2012
The 2012 Australian Road Cycling Championships (officially: 2012 Mars Cycling Australia Road National Championships ) took place in Ballarat from January 5th to 10th . The criterion races , individual time trials and road races were heldof women, men and the U-23 class. The criteria for all participants were on the program on January 5th, before a day of rest followed. On January 7th, the street races of the U-23 and the women took place, the street race of the men took place one day later. The championships ended on January 10th with the time trials of all classes. The respective champions were given the right to wear a jersey in the Australian national colors in races in their respective discipline until the next championships.
Criterion race
In the criterion races, intermediate sprints were carried out and a separate intermediate sprint evaluation was carried out for each racing class.

Road racing
The road races were held on a 10.2 kilometer lap in Buninyong. Each lap included an ascent (3 km long / 593 vertical meters) as well as a flat part and a descent. Points were awarded to the first three riders on each passage of the climb. The driver with the most points after the end of the race became the mountain price winner and received a white and red jersey. An intermediate sprint was carried out on every lap, and the driver with the most points overall was able to win this special classification at the end of the race.
