Anthony Giacoppo (born May 13, 1986 ) is a retired Australian cyclist .

Athletic career

Giacoppo, the son of an Italian father and a Dutch mother, was mainly successful in smaller Australian races at the beginning of his career. In 2010, he won one stage each in the Perth Criterium Series and the Pemberton Classic . For the 2011 season, Giacoppo received a contract with the Australian team Genesys Wealth Advisers . In the same year he won the Menzies Classic , the Shipwreck Coast Classic and a stage from Goulburn – Sydney . In 2012 Giacoppo became Australian Champion in the Criterion Race and won a stage of the Jayco Bay Cycling Classic . In addition, he achieved his first successes in races of the international calendar of the UCI with two stage wins in the Tour de Taiwan , a success on a section of the Tour of Borneo and in the prologue of the Tour de Kumano .

In 2013 Giacoppo won a stage of the Jelajah Malaysia , in 2016 the prologue, the points classification and a stage of the Tour of Japan . In 2018 he was successful in the prologue and in one stage of the Tour of China II .
