William Clarke (born April 11, 1985 in Tasmania , Australia) is an Australian cyclist .

William Clarke started cycling in 2007. On a professional level, he started in 2009 in the Australian Continental Team Praties , which became Team Genesys Wealth Advisers in 2010 . In August and September 2010 he was invited as a stagiaire to the professional team ag2r La Mondiale . After this time he was accepted for the 2011 season by the newly founded Leopard Trek team.

In 2012 Clarke won a stage each of the Tour Down Under and the Tour of Japan . In 2014 he again decided a stage of the Tour of Japan such as the prologue of the Tour de Kumano and a stage of the Tour of Iran . In 2015 and 2016 he won the prologue of the Herald Sun Tour , in 2016 he also won two stages of the Tour de Taiwan , the prologue of the Tour of Austria and one stage of the Tour of Portugal. In 2017 he started at the Vuelta a España and finished 157th in the overall ranking.
