Jaime Nielsen (born September 3, 1985 in Cambridge ) is a former New Zealand cyclist . On the track she is a specialist in the pursuit disciplines, on the road in the individual time trial .
Athletic career
Before Jaime Nielsen started cycling, she was successful as a rower and was a member of the national team from 2003 to 2007. In 2004 she became the U23 world champion in women's four- four . In 2007 she switched to cycling.
In 2009 Jaime Nielsen was runner-up in the team pursuit at the UCI Track World Championships 2009 in Pruszków , together with Lauren Ellis and Alison Shanks . The following year she became New Zealand champion in the same discipline, with Rushlee Buchanan and Sonia Waddell . At the UCI Track World Championships 2011 in Apeldoorn , Nielsen won bronze in the team pursuit (with Kaytee Boyd and Alison Shanks). In 2012, she finished fifth in the team pursuit together with Ellis and Shanks at the Olympic Games in London .
On the track , Nielsen was the first national champion in the single pursuit in 2014 , and in 2015 and 2016 she repeated this success. Between 2014 and 2017, she won the New Zealand title in the individual time trial on the road three times .
In 2016 Jaime Nielsen was nominated for participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . Together with Rushlee Buchanan , Racquel Sheath and Georgia Williams , she finished fourth in the team pursuit. At the 2017 UCI Track World Championships in Hong Kong , she won the bronze medal in the team pursuit with Rushlee Buchanan, Kirstie James , Racquel Sheath and Michaela Drummond . In July 2017, she set a new world hour record at sea level over 47.791 kilometers.
