Ally Wollaston (born January 4, 2001 in Auckland ) is a New Zealand cyclist who is active on track and road .
Athletic career
Ally Wollaston is one of three sisters. Nina (* 1996) is also active and successful as a cyclist. New Zealand media call them among other things the "superstar siblings of Kiwi cycling". Claudia Wollaston studies sports science and works for the New Zealand cycling association.
In 2017, Wollaston became New Zealand's junior individual time trial champion , and in 2018 and 2019 she was national junior champion in road racing. In 2018 she had her first international success when she won silver in the team pursuit at the Junior World Championships with McKenzie Milne , Annamarie Lipp and Sami Donnelly . The following year she won two medals at the Junior World Championships in Frankfurt (Oder) : gold in the single pursuit and silver in the team pursuit (with Milne, Donnelly and Sami Donnelly). In October 2019 she became New Zealand champion in the criterion .
A few months later, Ally Wollaston started in the international elite for the first time and, together with Emily Shearman , Michaela Drummond and Nicole Shields, won the team pursuit at the Track World Cup in Hong Kong . In 2020 she became New Zealand champion in team pursuit and two-man team driving .
Professional
Ally Wollaston is studying law at the University of Waikato . She is aware that her cycling career could be over "in seconds" due to injuries or a fall.
