Bryony Botha (born November 4, 1997 in North Shore City ) is a New Zealand cyclist who is active on track and road . On the train she is a specialist in the team pursuit .

Athletic career

At the age of twelve years Bryony Botha visited with her family, the sites of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . She was intrigued and imagined that one day she would run on the athletics track. “At that time we had no idea that it would ultimately be a different type of train,” she reported later. At first she did triathlon , but her swimming and running skills were insufficient, so she finally concentrated on cycling. She was trained by her father. As a proven "team player", she developed a particular preference for team pursuit.

In 2014 Botha won bronze in the team pursuit at the Junior World Track Championships in Gwangmyeong, South Korea . The following year, she became Junior World Champion in this discipline together with Michaela Drummond , Madeleine Park and Holly White .

With Bryona Botha in his ranks, the New Zealand women's foursome won several medals in international competitions, including two gold medals in the Track Cycling World Cup . In 2018, the four with Botha also won silver at the Commonwealth Games .
