Nicole Leder (* September 12, 1971 in Duisburg as Nicole Mertes ) is a non-fiction author , former German triathlete and multiple Ironman winner (2000, 2002 and 2007).

Career

Nicole Mertes began swimming at the age of seven and took part in swimming competitions as a child and adolescent.

In a longer injury phase than seventeen, her trainer from DSW Darmstadt recommended that she take part in the training of the triathlon department as compensation training. The very next year Nicole Mertes was Junior European Champion in 1989, 1990 and 1992, she was second at the Junior European Championships.

In 1994 at Ironman Europe in Roth , she came tenth in her first start at an Ironman .

Her daughter was born in August 1998, she took a maternity leave and in 1999 married the triathlete Lothar Leder .

In 2000 she won a long-distance triathlon at Ironman Korea for the first time and in the same year she was the best German starter at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, finishing 14th .

In 2002 Nicole Leder won the Ironman Brasil . In 2003 and 2004 she won the Challenge Roth German long distance champion. In 2004 she won the middle distance at the Marc Herremans Classic in Antwerp .

Winner of the Ironman European Championships 2007

In 2007 Nicole Leder won the Ironman Malaysia and also won the Ironman European Championships (Ironman Germany) in Frankfurt. Nicole Leder was trained by Sebastian Weber .

In July 2013, after starting at Challenge Roth, she declared her professional career over. Today Nicole Leder acts together with her husband Lothar, Wenke Kujala , Meike Krebs and Norbert Langbrandtner as their brand ambassador for the Erdinger alcohol-free team .

Nicole Leder now lives in Darmstadt with her husband Lothar and their daughter, who was born in 1998 .
