Barbara Tesar (born March 2, 1982 in Graz ) is a former Austrian triathlete .
Career
Barbara Tesar was active in cycling for a few years and then switched to triathlon.
The first Ironman (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) she was able to finish in 2002 at the age of 20 and in October 2003 she started for the first time at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships). In 2007 she qualified in the Ironman 70.3 Austria in St. Pölten on the triathlon middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater, where she finished 25th .
From 2007 to 2009 she worked as a freelance editor.
Professional triathlete since 2009
Barbara Tesar was active as a professional athlete from 2009 to 2012 and started for the Union TriDevils Graz . Their nicknames are Barbie or Ironbarbie . When she first started as a professional triathlete, she achieved ninth place at Ironman Switzerland in 2009.
In July 2010 she reached sixth place at the Ironman Austria in Klagenfurt. So she qualified for a starting place at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships), where she did not finish the race.
In 2010 she also reached third place in the Austrian championship in the individual time trial.
Her two older brothers were also active triathletes and Barbara was trained by her brother Bernd. In 2013 she broke the scaphoid bone in a training fall and later declared her active career over.
Today Barbara Tesar lives in Kumberg and she works as an entrepreneur and organizer of cycling trips in Istria.
