Sabine Heinrich (born May 13, 1969 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a former German triathlete . She is four times German champion over the long distance triathlon and three times participant in the Ironman Hawaii .

Career

Sabine Heinrich has been training in the athletics department of TSV Schmiden since her youth . In 1994 she was able to win the South German Marathon Championships.

She finally competed in her first triathlon at the age of 22.

German long-distance triathlon champion 1997

From 1997 to 2000 she won the IronMönch Triathlon in Kulmbach four times in a row German triathlon champion in the long distance (3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.2 km running).

Professional triathlete 2000-2003

From 2000 Sabine Heinrich started as a professional athlete.

In 1995, 2000 and 2001 she was able to qualify for a starting place at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championship) and she achieved her best placement there in October 2001 with the 36th place.

In 2003 the 34-year-old ended her athletic career.

The profession is also a reason for withdrawing from competitive sports and so she justified her decision at the time:

"I wanted to continue until I am 40 years old, but it didn't tingle anymore ... Success in such a sport cannot be combined with a normal job."

Today Sabine Heinrich works as an administrative officer.
