Stefan Schmid (born December 25, 1981 in Waiblingen ) is a former German triathlete and two-time German champion over the middle distance (2009 and 2011).

Career

Stefan Schmid began his sporting career as a middle-distance runner (Baden-Württemberg champion in 2004 over 1500 m) and in 2008 he started the triathlon. In 2008 he took part in the competitions of the 3rd Baden-Württemberg regional league with the team of the Magic Sportfood Team TSV Crailsheim .

In 2008 he started the triathlon middle distance for the first time and in the following year Schmid was both German champion over the middle distance (2 km swimming, 96 km cycling and 20 km running) in Immenstadt and fifth in his age group at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Clearwater .

From 2011 Schmid started for the Sparda team in Rechberghausen . In 2011 he was again German champion over the middle distance (2 km swimming, 85 km cycling and 20 km running) and German champion in the age group 30 over the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running) In Dusseldorf.

The qualified biologist is working as a doctoral candidate at the University Hospital Tübingen.
