Stephan Vuckovic (born June 22, 1972 in Reutlingen ) is a former German triathlete and Ironman winner (2007).
Life
In 1996 Stephan Vuckovic became German champion in the short distance triathlon. From 1996 to 2004 he mainly started over the short distance , in 1997 he became vice European champion in the short distance triathlon in Vuokatti, Finland.
He was able to celebrate a great success of his career in September 2000 at the Olympic Triathlon in Sydney , when he unexpectedly won the silver medal.
After he was not nominated by the DTU for the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he subsequently specialized in the long distance in triathlon - the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) . With a tenth place in Hawaii in 2005, he was able to establish himself immediately in the extended world elite on this route. In 2007 he won his first Ironman in Florida.
Stephan Vuckovic announced his candidacy for the office of President of the Baden-Württemberg Triathlon Association (BWTV) in July 2008 with an election in October. Due to doping rumors that had arisen about him, which could not be confirmed, he withdrew this at short notice and instead took over the post of sporting director. The proceedings aimed at by the DTU were discontinued on June 14, 2009.
In July 2011 he was fifth at Ironman Germany (Ironman European Championships) in Frankfurt and in 2012 he was seventh there.
Vuckovic became a coach at the Bundesliga club AST Süßen in 2014.
