Greg Sydney Bennett (born January 2, 1972 in Sydney ) is a former, Australian- born duathlete and triathlete who later started for the United States. He is a two-time triathlon world cup winner (2002, 2003), Olympian (2004) and vice world champion duathlon (2002).
Career
Greg Bennett has been active in triathlon since he was 15, started as a professional in 1994 and was multiple Australian triathlon champion (1998, 1999 and 2000). He was trained by Brett Sutton .
In 2002 Bennett became Duathlon Vice World Champion. In 2002 he also won the Triathlon World Cup and was able to successfully defend this title the following year.
2004 Summer Olympics
He finished fourth at the 2004 Summer Olympics. In 2007 he was named "Triathlete of the year" by Triathlete Magazine .
In August 2009 he was injured in a traffic accident, but at the end of September he was able to claim another victory in the middle distance in Augusta.
He is also a US citizen and joined the US team in 2010. Bennett has participated in over 80 International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Cup races, won six of them and made it onto the podium 26 times.
In September 2014, Bennett finished 15th in the World Triathlon Long Distance Championship in China. He started for the Mosman club and was trained by Lance Watson .
Greg Bennett has not appeared internationally since 2015.

Greg Bennett has been married to former US professional triathlete Laura Bennett (* 1975) since 2004 and they both live in Boulder , Colorado.
