Michael Hamlin (* 21st November 1985 in Lamar , South Carolina ) is a former American American football player . He played as safety in the National Football League (NFL), among others with the Dallas Cowboys .

Youth and family

Michael Hamlin played safety on his high school football team in Lamar. He also played basketball and baseball on the side . He won the state championship with his basketball team. Hamlin has two brothers who played college football for South Carolina State University .

Player career

College career

From 2004 to 2008 Michael Hamlin studied at Clemson University . He played for the local football team from 2005 to 2007. In all three years he was able to move into bowl games with his team . His college won one of the games . Hamlin received a business degree.

Profile career

In 2009 he was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round in 166th place in the NFL Draft . In addition to his career as a professional player, he is currently training to become a sociologist. In his rookie year as a football player, he was able to move into the play-offs with his team . The Cowboys then failed in the divisional play-off game with 3:34 at the Minnesota Vikings . After a short stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Washington Redskins , he retired in 2011.
