Jolanda Annen (born September 11, 1992 in Schattdorf ) is a Swiss triathlete . She is Swiss Duathlon Champion (2013) and Triathlon (2015), is a member of the A-squad of the Swiss national triathlon team and an Olympic athlete (2016).

Career

At the age of almost 17, Jolanda Annen contested her first triathlon competition at the Sempachersee Triathlon in Nottwil , where she took first place. In the 2010 and 2011 seasons, Jolanda competed in the Swiss “Swiss Triathlon Circuit” racing series among the juniors and was able to record a victory at the Zurich Triathlon and further podium places in the first year.

Jolanda Annen has been part of the Swiss PRO series since the 2012 season. On April 15, 2012, in Wallisellen, she managed to cross the finish line as the winner at the very first PRO race. In the second season, Annen achieved victory in Zug and various second places. At the Swiss Triathlon Championships in 2012, Jolanda Annen won the bronze medal in the professional women (elite) behind Daniela Ryf and Céline Schärer .

Swiss Champion Duathlon 2013

In spring 2013 she won the Swiss duathlon championship. The best result of the season was fourth place at the Elite European Cup in Karlsbad , Czech Republic. Thanks to this success, Jolanda Annen was appointed to the national C-squad for the 2014 season. In the winter of 2013/14, Jolanda Annen graduated from the top sport recruit school in Magglingen.

In April 2014 she was diagnosed with the viral disease Pfeiffer glandular fever . After a training break of several months, Jolanda Annen was still able to complete some good races in the 2014 season. At the last World Cup race of the season in Tongyeong, South Korea, she achieved her best result so far with seventh place.

Swiss Triathlon Champion 2015

In the 2015 season, Jolanda Annen formed the Swiss B-squad together with Andrea Salvisberg . At the Triathlon World Cup in Huatulco, Mexico and in Tongyeong, South Korea, Jolanda Annen came in second. At the 2015 European Championships in Geneva, Jolanda Annen and Team Switzerland I, together with Andrea Salvisberg, Nicola Spirig and Sven Riederer , won the silver medal in the Mixed Relay team (mixed relay). At the Swiss National Triathlon Championships in 2015, Jolanda Annen celebrated victories in both the elite and U23 races.

In the world rankings of the World Triathlon Series, Jolanda Annen was able to fight her way up from position 128 to position 35 in 2015, which earned her the title “ITU Biggest Mover 2015” (climber of the year). Jolanda Annen finished the 2015 triathlon season in the 2015 Triathlon World Championship racing series as the second best Swiss woman (behind Nicola Spirig) in 35th place.

2016 Summer Olympics

The sporting successes of the past season resulted in promotion to the national team and the senior squad. In May 2016, Jolanda Annen won her first Triathlon World Cup in Huatulco, Mexico. With this victory, she secured participation in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil and on August 20, she reached 14th place for Switzerland in Rio de Janeiro, making her the youngest participant in the top 25.

In the ITU annual ranking, Jolanda Annen came 26th as the best Swiss woman in the 2016 season.

At the European Triathlon Championships on the Olympic short distance, she finished sixth in Kitzbühel in June 2017. A week later, Jolanda Annen Düsseldorf became vice European champion in the sprint distance in the elite class. In the World Triathlon Series Ranking, the then 25-year-old finished ninth as the best Swiss woman after nine races in the world championship series in September 2017.

In the 2018 season, she had to take a longer break after a ischium injury.
