Ariane Gutknecht (born July 19, 1964 ) is a former Swiss duathlete and triathlete .

Career

Since 1995 Ariane Gutknecht started for the Swiss national triathlon team and her first Ironman (triathlon over the distances 3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) she contested in 1996 in Zurich .

In 1999 she was third at the Duathlon World Championship on the long distance at Powerman Zofingen .

After three years in a row in third place, the athlete , who lives in Allschwil , won the Ironman in July 2003 at her sixth start in Zurich.
