history

The sports center at the Gniebeler sports field

Around 1300 a "Konrad", called "Gnibeler", is mentioned in a document, who held the fief of the Lords of Stöffeln in the area of today's Gniebels. In the 15th century the hamlet belonged to the Counts of Zollern . These ceded him to Württemberg in 1473 . From this point in time Gniebel belonged to the office or Oberamt Tübingen .

In terms of the church, Gniebel was a branch of the parish of Walddorf . They were both reformed together and thus evangelical. Gniebel and Rübgarten have formed a communal parish since 1873 . A chapel is first mentioned in 1464. It was replaced in 1559 by the Fridolin Chapel in the center of the village. A parish administration was set up on her in 1842 and a parish in 1873. The chapel was probably replaced by a new building between 1466 and 1534, which was then repeatedly rebuilt and changed and finally demolished in 1974. In 1971/72 the wish of the Protestant parish ( church district Tübingen ) was realized and today's church in the shape of a tent roof was built by the architectural office Schaber from Reutlingen. The new church is called Dreieinigkeitskirche and contains a pointed arch window with stained glass (Descent from the Cross, Resurrection) by Wolf-Dieter Kohler in the concrete back wall . The Gniebel rectory also looks after the Rübgarten parish .

On December 1, 1971 Gniebel was incorporated into Pliezhausen.
