The Samui Triathlon was a long-distance triathlon race held in 2012 and 2013 (4 km swimming, 122 km cycling and 30 km running). Ko Samui is an island in Surat Thani Province in the southern region of Thailand .

organization

This triathlon first took place in 2012. At the same time, a duathlon was held here over the short distance.

The competition was organized by the French Gerald Iacono , who also hosted the Embrunman . Every year the competition attracted an international field. The course record of Courtney Atkinson is 6:00:18 hours from the year 2013. The planned date for the April 27, 2014 was canceled due to political unrest and announced for 26 April 2015 discharge was also canceled.

In 2016 the Xterra Samui Triathlon was held as a cross triathlon.

Route

The swimming distance was two laps with a shore leave on the coast of Bo Phut. The 122 km long bike route led one and a half laps around the island and the 30 km running route was a turning point course that leads towards the island's capital Na Thon .
