Joanna Lawn (born December 29, 1973 in Wellington , United Kingdom ) is a former triathlete from New Zealand . She is an eight-time winner of the Ironman distance and is listed fourth in the list of New Zealand triathletes on the Ironman distance . (As of August 2019)

Career

Joanna Lawn grew up in Auckland and in 1998 at the Commonwealth Games she started on the bike for New Zealand and finished ninth in this discipline.

Triathlon since 1999

In 1999 she switched to triathlon. Between 2003 and 2010 she was able to win the Ironman New Zealand in Taupo in New Zealand seven times in a row - with only one break in 2009 when she finished second behind her compatriot Gina Ferguson .
In 2005 and 2007 she finished fourth at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships) in Hawaii. In July 2006 she won the fifth edition of the Challenge Roth .

In January 2014, the then 40-year-old declared her career over after 20 years and announced that she was expecting a baby.

Joanna Lawn lives in Auckland with her husband.
