Heather Fuhr (born January 19, 1968 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a former Canadian duathlete and triathlete . She is a multiple Ironman winner and winner of the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships, 1997).

Career

In her youth at high school, she was an active runner and met her future husband Roch Frey - a swimmer who competed in his first triathlon in 1983.
In 1988 Heather Fuhr started in Calgary at her first triathlon event.

Heather Fuhr was able to achieve 15 Ironman victories in the long distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in her athletic career and she won the Ironman Hawaii in 1997 .

In 2007 she ended her career as a professional triathlon. In 2009, Heather Fuhr was third in cross-country running on the half marathon distance at the World Championship "Xterra Trail Run".

Today she works for the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC).

Awards

• In 2015, Heather Fuhr was appointed to the Ironman Hall of Fame by the WTC .
