The canton Treffurt was an administrative unit in the Heiligenstadt district of the Harz department in the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia . The main place of the canton and seat of the justice of the peace was the place Treffurt in today's Thuringian Wartburg district . The canton consisted of the nine places north of the Werra of the dissolved Ganerbschaft Treffurt , the Hessian place Heldra and the two Eichsfeldian places Diedorf and Heyerode. Canton maire was Johann Christian Medling until 1809, his successor was Christoph Böning.
