Life

Johannes Borgermester came from a bourgeois family in Wismar. As a master's degree he was designated as clericus on July 30, 1327 and from August 29, 1343 to April 4, 1352 he is occupied as a canon of Bützow , where he held the deanery from February 24, 1350 to April 3, 1352 . Afterwards Pope Clement VI. the deanery on April 3, 1352 to Goswin Borentin .

From April 19, 1355, Johannes Borgermester can be verified as Canon of Schwerin.

Johannes was pastor of the Georgenkirche in Wismar from August 7, 1358 to March 19, 1363, after which he received an annual grant from Duke Albrecht II . From November 25, 1368 to November 20, 1373 Johannes was Dean of the Calendar Brotherhood in Wismar. On November 20, 1373 Duke Albrecht II presented him to a vicarie of the Marienkirche in Wismar. In addition to exercising these ecclesiastical offices in Wismar, he worked for the city council from May 12, 1328 to September 11, 1336.

1359-1360 Johannes Borgermester represented Duke Albrecht II in a dispute with the Lübeck cathedral chapter , to which he himself belonged as a canon from March 15, 1361 to April 24, 1368. Since the Lübeck parish offices were connected to a cathedral canon, his membership in the cathedral chapter lasted beyond the specified period. Then he was from November 25, 1368 pastor in Boizenburg . On May 7, 1374 he was mentioned as pastor of St. Aegidien zu Lübeck .

As a papal executor , not a member of the Schwerin cathedral chapter, he was active on May 20, 1350 in the trial against the Schwerin cathedral dean Konrad Campsor (changer) and on January 27, 1371 in the execution of a papal commission. On December 31, 1374, for unknown reasons, John was summoned to the Curia by a mandate from the General Auditor of the Apostolic Chamber.
