Goswin Borentin ( bl. 1352-1374) was from 1355-1364 Dean of Bützow , 1359-1367 Canon of Schwerin and from 1372 Canon in Lübeck .

Life

Goswin Borentin, possibly a name of origin after the Mecklenburg monastery town of Borrentin of the Verchen monastery , was designated as scolaris in iure canonico in 1352 and as Magister clericus of the diocese of Cammin in 1355 . From Pope Clement VI. he was provided on April 3, 1352 with the canonical and a preamble of the Bützow monastery and the local deanery, which was illegally occupied by Johannes Borgermester . From May 12, 1355 to March 9, 1364, Goswin was the dean of Bützow. On March 9, 1364 he was ready to renounce the deanery in Bützow for the commission with a benefice in the Lübeck cathedral chapter. Pope Urban V granted this award without Goswin having to give up his deanery with full praisee in Bützow. In 1368 he was last referred to as Vice Dean of Bützow.

On April 3, 1352 Goswin was provided with a benefit available to the Cistercian monastery of Dargun , which he was to renounce in the event of a Schwerin benefice being obtained. On June 21, 1352, the canonical of Johann Speckhals was reserved for Schwerin, which he presumably only obtained on January 7, 1356 after a lawsuit won. From July 3, 1359 to March 5, 1367, Goswin Borentin can be identified as a Schwerin canon and from June 4, 1368 to April 2, 1374 as a thesaurus .

On June 18, 1353, Goswin Borentin led a trial at the papal court for a canonical with prebend in the Güstrow collegiate monastery . To investigate the dispute on March 22, 1355 Pope Innocent VI. even appoint papal commissioners. On February 1, 1361, Goswin exchanged his Güstrow canonics for a canonization in the Lübeck cathedral chapter and Pope Urban V awarded him a qualification for a major priest in Lübeck. In 1365 he litigated for the prebend there and for the extension of the entitlement to an office in the Lübeck cathedral chapter as well as for further preferential rights concerning prebender's authority. From August 25, 1372 onwards, he can be traced back to Lübeck canon.

In addition to these offices, Goswin was variously active as procurator at the papal curia in Avignon. So in 1352 as procurator of the Camminer diocese, in a process he represented the Schwerin bishop Andreas von Wislica . On December 15, 1354 he was procurator of a Leslau canon. From May 12, 1355 to February 28, 1357 Goswin was an agent of the Rostock Council . In 1371 he was commissioned by Michael Hildensem, vicar of Rostock and Stralsund , to manage his income from these vicarages, where he can still be traced in 1374. On July 25, 1372 he is to be found as an authorized representative of the collegiate monastery Eutin .

On behalf of Pope Innocent VI. Goswin conducted on July 3, 1359 the investigation of a dispute between the Heilig-Geist-Hospital in Lübeck and the council of Greifswald and on June 4, 1369 he was proven as the executor for the award of the parish church of St. Maria in Dorpat .
