The canton Großbartloff was an administrative unit in the Heiligenstadt district of the Harz department in the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia . The main place of the canton and seat of the justice of the peace was the place Großbartloff in today's Thuringian district of Eichsfeld . The canton consisted of 11 places in the Obereichsfeld . Canton maire was Anton Grundmann, before that he was an official officer in the office of Bischofstein . In the course of the relocation of the Peace Court to Lengenfeld in 1812, the Prefect von Bülow considered dissolving the canton due to insufficient municipal income, but postponed this decision until the planned, general reorganization of the cantons, which would take place before the end of the kingdom no longer came.
