Ashleigh Gentle (born February 25, 1991 in Brisbane ) is an Australian triathlete . She is junior world champion (2010) and runner-up on the short-distance triathlon (2017).
Career
Triathlon since 2005
Ashleigh Gentle started her first triathlon in 2005 at the age of 14.
In 2007 she became vice world champion in triathlon in Hamburg and in 2008 she was able to repeat this success.
Junior world champion triathlon 2010
In 2010 she became World Junior Champion in Beijing.
In July 2014 Ashleigh Gentle started together with Emma Moffatt , Emma Jackson , Aaron Royle , Dan Wilson and Ryan Bailie for Australia at the Commonwealth Games and finished ninth in Glasgow .
At her first start in the World Championship racing series, she finished second in Japan in May 2015 on the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).
2016 Summer Olympics
Ashleigh Gentle competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics for Australia in Rio de Janeiro on August 20 - together with Erin Densham and Emma Moffatt . After a fall on her bike, she came in 26th.
In the 2016 ITU World Championship racing series , Ashleigh Gentle finished tenth as the second best Australian, behind Charlotte McShane (8th).
Vice-World Champion Triathlon 2017
In July 2017 she became world champion in mixed relay (mixed relay) in Hamburg with the Australian team and in August she won her first victory in the world championship series in Montreal. In the ninth and final race of the 2017 ITU racing series season, the then 26-year-old finished sixth in Rotterdam in September, making it runner-up on the short distance world championship.
She has been part of the Bahrain Elite Endurance Triathlon Team since 2018 . At the 2018 World Championship racing series, she finished sixth in the annual ranking as the best Australian when she won the last race in September.
Ashleigh Gentle is in a relationship with the triathlete Joshua Amberger (* 1989).
