Edward Tashji

Edward Tashji (* 1932 in Troy , New York ; † June 22, 2005 in Glen Oaks ) was an Armenian - Assyrian author and chairman of the "Turkish-Armenian Friendship Association" and PR manager of the "Federation of Turkish-American Associations". He appeared there as a lobbyist for Turkey .

Life

He was born in the United States to an Assyrian from Urfa and the Armenian Izabel from Balıkesir who emigrated from Turkey in the 1920s . Edward Tashji founded a choir called Ortadoğu at the age of sixteen .

From August 18 to 24, 1998 he presented an exhibition from his personal collection entitled “An American's Love for Turkey” in the National Library of Ankara and from March 10 to 16, 1999 in front of the Ataturk Cultural Center in Istanbul .

Edward Tashji was married to Mary Tashji, an Armenian from Adıyaman . All his life he wore a badge with the image of the Turkish state founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk . His apartment in Queens was modeled on a miniature of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul.

He also took part in the Turkish-American Turkish Pride festival in New York, but was also a denier of the Armenian genocide .

He died on 22 June 2005 in Long Iceland Jewish Medical Center of Yeshiva University .
