Udo Kissenkoetter

Udo Kissenkoetter (born June 16, 1938 in Frankfurt am Main ; † August 5, 2014 in Neuss ) was a German politician ( SPD ), doctor and historian . Among other things, he was Vice Mayor of the city of Neuss.

Life and activity

After attending school and graduating from the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf in 1957, Kissenkoetter studied dentistry in Bonn, Cologne and Düsseldorf. He completed his studies with a doctorate to become a Dr. med. dent . In 1962 he settled in Neuss, where he opened his own practice in 1966. In addition to his full-time work as a dentist, he devoted himself to studying history, philosophy and German at the University of Düsseldorf . In 1975 he received his doctorate with a thesis on Gregor Strasser to Dr. phil.

In 1975, Kissenkoetter, who had been a member of the SPD since 1972, was elected to the Neuss city council for the first time, to which he was a member for almost thirty years. After holding the chairmanship of the SPD in his hometown from 1975 to 1981 and the chairmanship of his party's parliamentary group in the city council from 1987 to 1993, he was deputy mayor of Neuss from 1993 to 2004.
