Jacob (Jake) Birtwhistle (born January 4, 1995 in Launceston ) is a duathlete and triathlete from Australia . He is multiple national triathlon champion and third in the 2018 World Championship racing series .

Career

Jacob Birtwhistle became Junior World Champion Duathlon in Spain in 2014.

In 2015 he became U23 world triathlon champion on the Olympic short distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).

In July 2016, he won the title of Vice World Champion in the Australian triathlon relay in Hamburg.
In 2017 he finished tenth in the ITU World Championship racing series as the best Australian and with the relay he became world champion.

At the 2018 Commonwealth Games in April, he finished second behind the South African Henri Schoeman . In the 2018 World Championship racing series, the then 23-year-old finished third after the last race in Australia in September.
